  • HELIOS project joined the Photonics School 2025 at Lviv Polytechnic!
HELIOS 0 Comments March 31, 2025

From 19 to 22 March 2025, Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted the Photonics School, which brought together young scientists and leading experts in the field of optics and photonics. The main topic of this year’s event was waveguides – key elements of modern optical technologies.

The HELIOS project joined the organisation of this school, contributing to the development of innovations and popularisation of photonics in Ukraine. HELIOS project coordinator Iryna Yaremchuk was the chair of the organising committee of the Photonics School 2025, ensuring a high level of the event and the involvement of leading experts in the field of photonics. The HELIOS project implementers also actively contributed to the school, sharing their experience and knowledge with the participants, contributing to the development of research and international cooperation in the field of optics and photonics.

The school programme included lectures and workshops on optical fibres, metamaterials, photonic crystal structures, machine learning in photonics, etc. Among the invited lecturers were Markus Schmidt (Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technology, Germany), Anton Glushchenko (NSC Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology), Volodymyr Tuz, Anton Ovcharenko, and other experts.

It is important that the Photonics School was free of charge, and travel grants were provided for participants from other cities. This allowed us to attract even more students and young researchers from all over Ukraine!

The HELIOS project continues to support the development of science and innovation in the field of photonics, as this industry plays an important role in modern technology, defence and communications.
